London England, 1888: The East-End of London was anything but a safe place to be, especially if you were a prostitute or an impoverished child in the late 19th Century. Annie Clarke is a hopeful child longing for nothing more than the love of her family, but her yearning for companionship is exploited by a deranged psychopath who preys on her innocence. One sad turn of events leads to another and as the poor girl’s psyche gets battered into adulthood; a metamorphic effect takes place within her in an effort to help her cope with the catastrophic events of her ill-fated life.
