Description

The Assembly of the Synod of Bishops convoked by Pope Francis in October 2023 was a memorable event of meditation, sharing, spiritual conversations, fraternal exchanges and frank debate. Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, President of the Maltese Episcopal Conference, was one of the Synod’s 365 voting members. This collection of 25 acrostic poems, penned during the Retreat at Sacrofano and the Synod sessions at the Vatican, form a sort of diary of the main themes that enlivened the experience and inspired the debates. The themes reflect the light and darkness present in the convergences and divergences encountered on the road to discernment.
