Description
The publication of The Edward Baker Album constitutes a significant addition to Malta’s photographic narrative and its archive. Baker’s work was, of course, known to his family. However this is the first time this collection of photos will be enjoyed by the public. This photographic and cultural discovery is now available to those who are interested not only in the images and their process but in the history they reveal, the landscapes they recall and the social mores they convey. The natural talent of this Maltese photographer shines through in his work. His authentic images have now found a deserved place in the wider world of Melitensia.
Patricia Camilleri, Justine Balzan Demajo, Kevin Casha, Giovanni Bonello, Daniela Apap Bologna, Caroline Tonna and Liam Gauci provide a broad social and historical context enriching Baker’s story.
